What Causes Red Strand In Stool For A 11 Months Old Baby?
My son, aged 11 months (consuming only formula milk & breastfeed) reocurring some kind of diarrhea with some tiny red strand in his stool. what are causing this? Im worried that its a symptoms of wounded kolon or something. Could you shed some insight?
Hi... At the age of 11 months and with mixed feeding( formula and breast milk), infant may suffer from functional constipation. This may further lead to the passage of hard stools and this hard stools may cause erosion of mucosa and streaking of stools with blood. In such cases, infant may have pain while passing stools. Another possibility is that as mouthing is common at this age, incidence of worm infestation increases and it may pass in the stools. If certain diet protocol are followed such as fibre inclusion, along with regular deworming, most of them resolve.
