What Causes Reddish Colour In Spit In 2 Days Old Baby?

My 2 day old had has some brown-reddish color in his spit up. He is breast fed and we are also supplementing hypoallerginic formula. Could he be bleeding for some reason or is this maternial blood? My first son had a severe protien induced allergy when he was born.

Hello. Welcome to HCM. If it could be from maternal blood then it will be link with extremely sore nipples. But if the mother does not have sore nipples then i would suggest you visit your doctor for further tests. Maybe baby has an allergy to formula.
