Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife 46yr complained redish in her eyes Since two yrs &has consulted many optho surgeons. Two days before one has advised Montoux test which is found +20mm Others Investigation including chest x Ray are quite normal . Now he suggested another test igbm .Now what should I do . Please guide us.
Mantoux test is an indicator of a person being exposed to the tubercular germ. It may or may not imply an active infection. However, a Mantoux test positive at 20 mm is quite significant.
Usually a low grade fever and weight loss are present in majority of the TB cases. Uou can consult an infectious disease specialist for further advise.
Some blood tests like complete blood count (including ESR) are needed. A fundoscopic examination of the eye may help in detection of choroid tubercles.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Ayusmati Thakur
