What Causes Reddish Splotches All Over The Body While Suffering From Fever?

Hello. My 10 year old daughter started a fever and headache four days ago. The first sign of fever was 103 temperature that took 2 hours to reduce with the use of Ibuprofen, Tylenol and cool compresses. The following 2 days her temperature fluctuated between 99 and 102. Yesterday she was fever-free. Today she woke with small red splotches all over her body. What might this rash be?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The fever and rash may be due to a viral illness though may still need to rule out more serious causes.

The rash that occurs in viral illnesses is called viral exanthem. Normally it resolves along with or soon after the viral illness itself resolves.
If her fever and headache do not improve or there are any worsening symptoms, she should be evaluated.

I hope this helps
