What Causes Redness Along With Accumulation Of Pus In Mole Of A Child?
My son is 10, last month a mole he has had since he was about 5 filled with puss and turned red . He said it hurt bad and it popped a day later, now its a smooth surface where the mole was. I am concerned because the mole 2cc away is also swelled and red and filled with puss and painful to the touch. What should I do? Do I go to a regular doctor or a Dermatologists?
As per your query your child has symptoms of compound mole which is the most common type occurrence. As its getting filled with pus and showing red margins you should be little more concerned about it. Don't allow him to touch it or pop with any object as it will cause exaggeration of symptoms.
I would suggest you to visit oral pathologist or dermatologist for this. Get biopsy or screening done by aspiration of fluid from infected site. After biopsy results proper diagnosis can be make out and any malignancy can be rule out. Excision of mole can be advised by doctor. You can go for minor procedures like cryotherapy.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
