What Causes Redness And Hard Swelling On Ankle Post Injury?

i was hit pretty hard in my leg and went to doctor on 2/20/15 since my ankle began to swell a few days after the injury. the doctor said not to worry unless it turned red around the injury. today it is 4/2, and the spot of injury has hard lumps...1 large and two small lumps my ankle is not as swollen, but still a little should i be concerned about the lumps and possible blood clots?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The first cardinal rule is to get an X-ray done as this is the only thing to tell us about fracture which needs to be ruled out. Another principal is to give rest to the traumatized part, means to have crepe bandage or plaster to immobilize the part to give rest. Third most important is to take anti-inflammatory medicines. Obviously, to have proper follow up and manage further as per the opinion of an expert. Get these done and give feedback.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
