What Causes Redness And Inflammation Around Mouth And Philtrum?
I went to the dermatologist and was not quite clear and what he told me. My appointment was due to redness and inflammation around my mouth, and between my lip and nose. It gets really red, itchy, and flakes. I am 33 and have never had skin issues. After the redness and itchiness it had like a rubbery feel to the tough.
Understanding your concern. Thanks for your query .The symptoms you mention in your query are clearly indicatsof perioral dermatitis. The causes for perioral dermatitis are use of steroid cream, makeup and cosmetic creams ,over exposure to sun, fluorine in toothpastes ,hormonal changes and withdrawal of antibiotics .
First of all you should stop using any kind of cream of ointment on your face.Wash you face only with warm water gently .Also stop using toothpaste containing fluoride.Apply aloe vera gel or apple cidar vinegar to affected area.
I would suggest you to consult dermatologist again for proper evaluation ,doctor may prescribe antibiotic course for 6- 12 weeks and may also prescribe medicine like isotretinoin.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
