What Causes Redness And Itching In The Implanon Insertion Site?

I had the impalanon inserted three weeks ago. The insertion site is completely healed but for the last three days it has been itching like crazy and there s a slight redness around the entire length of the implant, is this normal or should I consider having it removed?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
I am Dr Rakesh Sharma answering your query.
I can understand your concern.
This is either allergy or infection at the site.
Apply cold compress at the site.
If swelling or itching increases or it pains , it is better to get it removed.
Please also feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.
I find this answer helpful
