Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I have a question about a skin problem. It is isolated to my right hand, around my pinky, ring , and middle knuckle. It is in between my fingers and on the back and side of my hand. It s gets itchy at some points and can become extreme. It is always red when it is happening, also scaly and chafed. If itched to long it develops bumps and pusses. I have used hydrocortisone cream and that helped but then it came back. I have used athletes foot cream (anti fungal), again that took it away but came back. I thought it was an allergic reaction to latex cause I was wearing nitrile gloves when it started a curing. I stopped using them and it is still happening. I have been trying Benadryl but that s not working. And ideas?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The rash you describe suggests the possibility of scabies a highly contagious infestation spreading with skin to skin contact the/using the same clothes so seen in family or friends.
Diagnosis is with a keen local examination to be followed by specific ointment with few hygienic care. Please consult a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
