What Causes Redness And Itching Sensation On Skin?

My husband got a bite from something a couple of days ago. It was very itchy and he scratched it a lot. Now it has a raised center (kinda like a pimple) then a red area around it, then a circle of raised white. Something like that. Any ideas? It had gotten kinda inflamed looking and we ve been cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide and using triple antibiotic cream on it.

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain an insect bite can lead to allergic reaction in that area due to sting containing poisonous chemical and can cause a hard swollen area which is red, painful and itches..

When it is continuously scratches there can be infection in that area leading to formation of a small abscess which is filled with pus which has occurred in your case..

You need not to worry and can clean it with hydrogen peroxide or savlon or dettol and can apply triple antibiotic ointment as it contains bacitracin, polymyxin b and neosporin and it is an effective composition..

In case of there is a big abscess and there is frank pus discharge then you can take a short course of antibiotics like amoxicillin 500mg twice daily for 5 days..
