Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Redness And Peeling Up Of Skin At Ankle Injury Site?
I got hit with a softball line drive 4.5 weeks ago. It hit just above my ankle. The contact spot is still very red, and skin is peeling off similar to sun burn. When I got hit, it took about 2 days before I could walk. I am now able to walk and run with no issues. Is the length of the discoloration and skin peeling a major concern? I am 50 years old.
Dear patient there are skin colour changes that normally occurs after contusion. Since you got a hit with soft ball it was mostly contusion. Initial colour is red then turns blue then black and gradually disappears over a period of 4 to 6 weeks. Since u are having red colour even after 1 month it seems abnormal. Are you diabetic. If yes then possibility of cellulitis cannot be ruled out. I would advice ultrasound of local part. Also do your blood platelet count. If both turns normal leave your worries. And if report comes abnormal please visit physician.
