Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Redness And Pus Filled Pimples On Upper Thigh?
I had a pimple on my upper thigh for several months. A few days ago I was able to get some of the pus out (OK, I shouldn t have done that). Last night on the toilet I looked down and had a red circle about 3 in diameter. I touched it and a great deal of pus, both hard and liquidy, came out. Now there is still a very red angry ring around the area that is somewhat painful. I believe it is growing. I see my doctor on Monday. Can it wait until then or should I go to the walk in clinic?
Hello and welcome to HCM, A pus filled lesion on the thigh is suggestive of bacterial infection. The lesion could be a boil or furunculosis. Boil is a skin infection and furunculosis is infection of the hair follicle. Redness around the the lesion is due to inflammation. I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment. Dressing of the lesion with antibiotic ointment is required. Depending on the clinical assessment, oral antibiotic may also be required.
