What Causes Redness And Soreness In The Eyes During Pregnancy?

Hi. I m 36 weeks pregnant and have recently found out I am diabetic. (Glucose levels were high) over the past couple of days one of my eyes have been really sore. Today it s blood shocked and really sore to move or even blink. Just wondering if this is a cause of concern due to the diabetes or nothing tow worry about. Thanks kyou

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Any type of infection has intense symptoms & becomes difficult to heal when accompanied by diabetes. Same stands true with your eye symptoms. Please get checked by you gynecologist & an ophthalmologist (if referred to) & start with the treatment advice. At earliest the infection must be controlled before childbirth, which demands control of blood sugar as well as antibiotics as per need to control eye infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
