Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Redness And Swelling Around The Eyes Despite Taking Tetracycline?
For 2months the skin around my eyes is red, swollen and itchy. I was on prednisone for 2 weeks and it cleared up but as soon as I finished the prescription it came back in 48 hours. The doctor now has me on tetrecyclin for for 6 weeks but so far after 1 week there is still no change. The skin around my eyes is red and looks bumpy on the lids at times. I never had any allergies and have stopped using any eyes products. Vaseline does help to make it comfortable but it is getting very frustrating now and I do not know what else to do.
As per your history is concerned it is due to orbital cellulites so take following medications:
1) Take[ CEZOLIN IM one gram]once a day until infection controls
2) If Pus forms then surgical drainage is required
3) Check your TSH and Full blood count with differential
Follow me if any doubt arises. I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me. Wishing you all the best.
Thanks, Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
