What Causes Redness And Swelling In The Eyes?

Sir i have problem of redness, swealing, tears and itching in my eyes. Doctor gav me two ointment these are CHLORAMPHENICOL, POLYMYXIN B SULFATE, OPHTHALMIC OINTMENT named as 'OCUPOL OINTMENT' for swealing and he said i had to put this ointment outside my eyes for swealing and another ointement is TACROLIMUS OINTMENT 0.03% W/W named as 'TACLIMENT' for redness and he said i had to put inside my eyes for redmess and tears. Now i am confused which ointment for which purpise please help...

Thanks for the query.
I have gone through your description and I can understand your concerns.

All the symptoms you have mentioned suggest the possibility of conjunctivitis. It could be bacterial ,viral or allergic in origin.
"ocupol" is a topical antibiotic cream which can be applied to prevent secondary infection. "Tacliment" is an immunomodulator which can help to reduce the symptoms like itching and watering. It can be applied inside of your eye.
Apart from that,you can take analgesics like paracetamol for pain. Antihistamines can be taken to control symptoms like itching and watering.
