What Causes Redness And Swelling Of Eyes?

I have had very red swollen eyes now twice. My eye doctor put me on Prednisolone and it really cleared up. He sais he did not want to give me a refill because this is very potent. What is the cause of this. They are extremely irritated and have tried other remedies and nothing works. What could I be allergic to or is it a immune deficiency concern.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If the prednisolone cleared it up then this means that it is likely an allergic reaction.

Prednisolone is an immune suppressant, so a condition that causes deficiency/decreased function of the immune system is not likely.

You may want to try topical and oral combination of medication eg topical antihistamine such as olopatadine along with medication such as ketotifen or montelukast.

I hope this helps
