What Causes Redness And Swelling On The Lips After Taking Advil?
Hi, I recently took an Advil and my lips got super swollen and red. I thought it was something like I sucked on a cap or something but.... when I took alleve the other day same thing happened to my lips again. Is that a sign that I'm allergic to something?
Both Ibuprofen and Aleve are NSAID's [Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs] and in case if there is redness and swelling of lips then it is most probably due to allergic reaction with NSAID's and can be due to multiple drugs of this class..
So my suggestion is to avoid tking these drugs and for now take anti allergic medicines like benadryl, Levocetrizine etc. Also do cool compresses over the lips as it will help in reducing swelling as well as redness. Drink plenty of water to let the drug wean off from the body quickly..
In case if the symptoms recur even after stopping intake of these medications then it can be due to some other allergens so in that case you can get an allergy test done..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
