Hi
insect bites usually evokes allergic reactions and as the worst case it could cause anaphylaxis. However your grandson seems to have no major signs and is comfortable. Swelling at the site of bite is due to local reaction and shouldn't be worried unless he's developing facial edem/angioedema, feeble pulse and dizziness. Benadryl is an antiallergen and that would help for itching and other mild allergic issues. However if he develops moderate to major allergic signs you get him immediately to ER and get hydrocortisone shots.

Hope this helps.

Regards
