What Causes Redness Between The Buttocks?

Hi, I have slightly red skin between my bum cheeks, and a couple of small pimple like spots. They don t hurt and I ve only noticed them because I m obsessively examining myself, I ve convinced myself I ve got herpes. They are not sores or blisters. I tend to sweat a lot in that area, what does this sound like please? Thank you

Hi, thanks for using Healthcare Magic.

I understand your concern but you should not worry that much.

I know that those red spots made you feel very uncomfortable. However, a complete medical interview and a direct examination are required to see the description of your complaint. Thus, the diagnosis of your skin condition will also be more easily enforced. A consultation with a dermatologist is needed for a thorough physical exam.

Meanwhile, based on your current explanation, I suspect some conditions that may cause those red spots, such as:
1. Fungal infections (tinea cruris),
2. Eczema (dermatitis), or
3. Parasitic infections (scabies).

However, further evaluation is needed to confirm the cause. Among the additional data required are information on is there an itching? If there is itching, when the specific timing of the onset of itching (is it more itching during the night, when sweating, etc.?)

So, I'll suggest you to meet the dermatologist. The doctor may give you an antihistamine, anti fungus or anti-inflammatory drug of the steroid as indicated by the cause.

Some tips for you:
1. Make sure to keep the dryness and cleanliness of the buttocks, the genitals and surrounding areas
2. Always using less-tight or loose pants with sweat absorbing material
3. Manage stress well

Hope this helps,
Take Care.
