What Causes Redness Despite Using Deriva And Septilin For Acne On Face?
Hi Doctor, i am geetha, female, 22 yrs old. i have pimples & acne on my face. my doctor prescribed me to take tablets sepmax and septilin with deriva cms ointment. am taking these tablets and using ointment for the last 3 days.. i feel irritation and redness on my face. does the ointment suitable for my skin? or am getting any side effects due to the medication?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that you have got a side effect to the Deriva CMS gel as it contains Clindamycin that is an antibiotic and Adapelene that is a retinoid and redness on face seems to be due to side effects of Adapelene.. Sepmax is an antibiotic containing Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim while Septilin is a Herbal formulation of antimicrobial action.. I would suggest you to consult your treating Dermatologist and get evaluated and he can change the ointment and advise you Benzoyl Peroxide and Clindamycin gels.. Washing face with Salicylic acid containing facewash can help.. You should also exfoliate your face twice a week.. Avoid oily food and drink plenty of water..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
