Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
During my pregnancy I had a slightly red and irritated gum but it was localized in one area around my tooth, but since after the pregnancy the redness is still there and it bleeds from time to time why is it happening still and its been a year since I had my baby
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have redness on gums during pregnancy which is due to hormonal changes that increase the blood flow especially to gum and cause gums to be more sensitive. It is known as pregnancy gingivitis.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit oral physician once and get it examined. Go for complete oral hygiene maintenance and start treatment after prescription. You should get hormonal levels monitored and start treatments accordingly. Use antiseptic mouthwash and avoid intake of sharp and spicy food. Do warm saline gargles several times a day.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
