What Causes Redness, Swelling And Itching On The Knees?

My mum takes osteo biflex for her knees. On the second day now, her knees are all red, itchy and they burn and i guess swollen. Why is that? She used the same tablets before, never experienced such a thing. Can it be because she also uses Bonely ( a med for bones)? Should we discontinue or could it be maybe the signs (redness etc) actually indicate osteo bIflex really works?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Possibly it is the Glucosamine content of Osteo Bi-Flex which can cause skin reactions. In your case it might be possible that initial dose have sensitized her immune system which has reacted on second exposure of Glucosamine. So I advice to stop it and take Levocetrizine tablets. If rashes does not resolves in 2 days then consult dermatologists.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
