What Causes Redness, Swelling And Pain Behind The Inner Lips?

Hello, I have had swollen, inflamed, painful, red gums for the past 4-5 days on the outside of my gums (lip-side, as opposed to tongue-side). Additionally, the edges and underside of my tongue are red and irritated and it almost looks like the bottom of my tongue is peeling, kind of like stringy skin tag looking things hanging off of the bottom side. Additionally, in the back of my mouth where the gum meets the cheeks there is peeling. It is very very painful and even more painful when I eat sweet/sugary foods or spicy foods. What should I do? I went to a dentist today who didn't know what it is and was of no help and referred me to someone else who can't see me for 3 months. Any help is appreciated--in tons of pain and panicking!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

Aa per your complain the symptoms of swollen, red, inflamed and painful gums along with peeling gums seems to be a condition known as Desquamative Gingivitis..

It can occur due to causes like Oral Lichen Planus, pemphigus vulgaris while conditions like drug reaction and plasma cell Gingivitis can be a cause..

You need to consult a Periodontist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigation like blood test, microscopy of the scraping from gums can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

As of now apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine..
You can also do cool compresses over the gums..
You should chew Vitamin C pellet daily..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
