What Causes Redness Under The Eyes After A Head Injury?
My husband fell and lacerated the top of his head on a door knob. He got stitches and we came home. This was Wednesday. He wears glasses. Late this afternoon we started noticing redness starting to form under his eyes (on upper part of cheekbone. Could this be a result of his glasses pushing into his face. And if so, why did it take so long to show?
I have gone through your query and can certainly understand your concern,
Appearance of bruising under the eyes, also called as black eyes, can result from the rupture of small capillaries which may leak the blood to the surrounding tissues. This does not require any active intervention. Application of cold compress for 20 mins and removing it for 20 mins helps to arrest the blood leaking from the capillaries. Followed by warm compresses which enables the re absorption of blood.
But if you find any such associated symptoms like nausea , loss/ blurring of vision, vomiting, headache etc, I would suggest it best for you to get a scan done to rule out any facial or skull fractures.
I hope this helps, Regards
