General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Swelling and redness in the lower legs is commonly due to venous insufficiency, salt retention, cellulitis, congestive heart failure, deep venous thrombosis, allergies, varicose veins, etc. You also have history of hypertension, continue to take your prescription medicines for hypertension.

Cut on alcohol or addictions if any. Cut on salt intake. Avoid salty food and extra salt intake. Keep your foot on a stool when sitting and on a pillow when on bed. Stay well hydrated. Get clinically examined by a GP at the earliest. Get all required tests and investigations done.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
