Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Reduced Blood Sugar Levels After Taking Insuman Comb And Istamet?
My average fasting blood sugar was around 240 and I was using Insuman Compo 25/75 (18-0-16) and Glyciphage 1 Gm (1-0-1). Since there was no considerable reduction in sugar level, the doctor has now prescribed Insuman Compo 25/75(14-0-12) and Istamet 50 Mg/1000 Mg(1-0-0) and Glyciphage (0-0-1). After using the new dozage, the average FBS has come down to 140. I would like to know your opinion on this.
The new drug is working well for you. That is the reason your blood glucose levels are better than before. I would suggest you to take Istamet twice a day and stop glyciphage. Your fasting levels will be much better then. You may be able to decrease the dose of insulin to a good extent and in some cases may be able to take once a day of basal insulin alone.
Warm regards. dr praveen
