My son was on sizodon for last one year. Dr. Prescribed it for hallucinations. He stopped taking it for last one month. But now he develops similar symptoms for last one week. My question is why it relapsed again. ..? Should he contineu the medicine?

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Sizodon or Risperidone is an antipsychotic drug. Your son developed hallucinations and was prescribed sizodon. Hallucinations are common symptoms of psychotic disorders. In most of psychotic disorders treatment should be continued for long periods of time and regular consultation of psychiatrist is advised. He has left the medicines without consulting his doctor and this has resulted in relapse of symptoms. In such situations best is to visit his doctor again and restart the medicine. If his symptoms are not given proper attention at this stage then he might develop full blown psychotic episode or his symptoms would worse. So consult his doctor as soon as possible.

Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care
