Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can renal failure occur even though a person is still eating and drinking plenty of fluids? I care for my mother in law who is receiving at home hospice care for late stage alzheimer s. She is bedridden and has a catheter, and recently, in last few days her urine has become dark yellowish amber, and cloudy sometimes as well, but also has a very strong odor. Is this a sign that the end is near? My family wants to have her treated for a urinary tract infection. I disagree

What Causes Renal Failure?
Hello, Consult a physician and get evaluated. We can not make a diagnosis based only on these. You can go for a renal function test also. Do a urine culture and sensitivity also. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
