What Causes Repeated Falling Off Of Temporary Crowns?
Hi Dr. Rynne,A doctor put a Crown on a tooth after a root canal surgery around 3 weeks ago. Today, as I was chewing gum, my crown fell off. I still feel like the rest of the tooth under the crown is still there in my mouth. What should I do? This is the second time this has happened to me in around 2 months, but the last time a different crown fell off. Is there a problem?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain if your artificial crown is falling off again and again then there can be a few causes like improper shape of tooth after tooth is prepared for crown placement, insufficient tooth structure left, crown is not of proper size and fitting etc.
Nothing to worry Consult a Prosthodontist and get evaluated and treatment can be planned accordingly..
If nothing seems abnormal re-cementing of the same crown can be done, while if thee is some mistake found correction of the same and repeating the crown is done..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora.
