What Causes Restricted Movement In Shoulder Along With Severe Pain?

I fell working out two days ago and heard a pop in my shoulder now I can t raise my arm mostly cross my chest its hard to take my clothes on and off it pops when I walk soon normal arm swings. I was in therapy last summer for a small tear but it never helped. This time its really hurting even to let my arm hang normally is really painful. Not sure if I should go to ER or wait to see if it gets better on its own or make an appointment with my orthopedic.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is possible that you have sustained a new injury or re-injured the previous tear in your shoulder. The restricted movement and severe pain you are experiencing are concerning and should be evaluated by a medical professional as soon as possible. If the pain becomes unbearable or you are unable to move your arm at all, it may be necessary to go to the emergency room for immediate medical attention.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
