What Causes Rib Pain On The Left Side Upon Coughing?

I have had pneumonia and pulled something on my left side when coughing. The pain has been awful on that side, worse with coughing. Today I heard a loud pop and felt movement in the rib area. The pain has improved but I keep hearing and feeling movement.

Hello,

Rib pain may be due to in coughing is due to intercostal muscle spasm or accidental rib fractures.

So use antitussive medication. Use muscle relaxant and painkiller medication. If symptoms not improved please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
