What Causes Ridges Like Hard Surface On The Buttocks In An Elderly Person?
I am the caregiver for my 81 year old mom. on the upper part of her butt crack she has a ridged area that is harden like a small mountain range and is sore to the touch..I am constantly watching for bed sores because she is wheelchaired bound. Is this the start of a bed sore?
Yes, most probably, that ridged area that is harden like a small range and sore to touch is a sign of starting a bed sore. Apply regenerating cream locally (ex. Bepanthen) to help that skin part regenerate. And observe for changes in the following days. If ulcer will start, should apply antibiotic ointment together with Bepanthen cream.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
