What Causes Right Arm Pain And Hard Bumps On Shoulders?

Hello my child has been complaining of right arm pain for several days, she has sickle cell disease ss, so we took her to hospital where they kept her for a few days thinking it was a pain crisis. While brushing her teeth notice raised hard bumps on both sholders, dry skin, also looks like some bites on right arm. They are discolored as well. She is still complaining of arm pain, we have only been home for a day. Should I take her back to doctor asap?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, constant arm pain with bumps on shoulders do indicate flare up of immune response in Sickel cell disease patient. Certain hematogenous spread of infection causing osteomyelitis must be ruled out with thorough X-ray or MRI evaluation as per the clinician decision.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
