What Causes Right Flank Pain Along With Shortness Of Breath?

I have had pain on my right side arou d my waistline..it hurts when i breathe in or cough or sneeze..its worse if i lay on it..i have shortness of breathe bevause it hurts to breathe deeply..it was very bad two days ago but the pain has dulled over past few days but is still consistant..i recently had bloodwork and urine test done 2 days before this started and all tests came back fine..i had a blood clot in my right leg and have been on xarelto for past three months but was off of it for 3 days for right hip, si joint, and l4-5 spinal injections for pain..im worried about a pulmonary embelisim...i have no other symptoms other than the right flank pain when i breathe in and when i push out like when having a bowel movement..no fever no chills no nausea no dizziness no cough no urinary problems..any suggestions?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have right flank pain along with shortness of breath . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like arthritis , infection in the spine , disk disease , pinched nerve in the back , muscle spasm , kidney infection and pancreatitis . But in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are either due to pinched nerve or disc disease . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan or MRI to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant along with anti inflammatory and recommend physical therapy . Doctor may also refer you to pulmonologist in case the problem seems to be due to lung infection . For now apply hot compresses to back and take proper rest .
