What Causes Right Side Breast Pain And Lower Abdominal Pain?

So I ve have right side breast pain for about a month now. Days after I started having the pain I found a huge and painful lump in my right breast. But I was about to get my period, I went to the doctor anyways, got an ultrasound of both of my breasts, all was good. After my period ended the pain and size of the lump both decreased. But never went away completely. There are times of the week were the lump increases in size and is very painful, the pain radiates to my right arm as well. The pain is non-cyclical. I also have dull, but sharp at times right side, lower abdominal pain. Which came about the same time I found the lump. I have had an IUD for two years. And I am sexually active with a long term boyfriend. Also, there were a few times I ve had excruciatingly painful cramps immediately after sex that lasted 5-10 minutes.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The history is most suggestive of a condition called fibrocystic disease of breast and can be diagnosed by Ultrasound, FNAC or biopsy and if not amenable to medical management can be removed. As for the lower abdominal pain can be due to one of the following reasons:
* PID that is pelvic inflammatory disease.
* Inflamed Fallopian tubes.
* Problems with ovaries.
I would advise you to consult a gynecologist for internal examination, trans-vaginal ultrasound so that an appropriate diagnosis and management can be done.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
