Hi, thanks for asking from HCM. I can understand your concern. The headache can occur for few days after head injury whether mild or dangerous injury. The importance lies what are the other symptoms and severity of headache. The headache and other symptoms which need attention and suggest consultation with neurosurgeon are - Headache progressively increasing and not relieving even after medication - Vomiting - Loss of consciousness for more than 5 min - Focal weakness - seizures - altered behaviour If you have any of above symptoms, do not wait. Go to ER as soon as possible and get CT head done to rule out any lesion in brain like heamtoma, fracture. If you are having headache only, which is responding to medication also, you can wait at home. For relief, you can follow few tips - Apply cold compresses at injury site. The pain and numbness could be due to scalp hematoma. - Take rest. - Lie with head end elevation. It will relieve the swelling - You can take tab Diclofenac sodium after prescription - Avoid compression at injury area If still no relief, then consult doctor. Hope it will help you.
