What Causes Right-sided Abdominal Pain And Dizziness When Diagnosed With Alzheimer’s Disease?
My mother is 87 years old, has alzheimer s and just now she complained of pain rt. side abdomen, was crying. i tend to think it s her digestive system and what she ate is just passing through, but worried it might be something more serious. Also saying she s dizzy and is wailing as I write this..
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As aging occurs there will be hypomotility of bowel which might lead to decreased digestion and also gastritis and acid peptic reflux. You can take her to your family physician who may prescribe antacids like Pantop/Omez/Rantac or gelusil syrup. Also give her diet which is not very spicy and oily which may aggravate gastritis. Give small meals at frequent intervals. Let her not be confined to the bed. Encourage moving around. Engage her actively in family gatherings and discussions. As far as she is eating well and passing her stools properly I don't think there should be a reason to worry. If she is not better with anti-gastritis treatment take her to your doctor who may suggest an abdominal ultrasonography scan to see if there is any pathology.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
