Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Right-sided Ankle And Achilles Tendon Pain After A Foot Injury?
Today I was playing basketball. I went to block a shot and I landed with my right foot on the ground but my left on someone’s foot and rolled it but I fell on my back right after it happened. The ankle hurt for about 15 minutes but then later today my Achilles for some reason is hurting more than my ankle. Why is that?
The injury is around the ankle joint and Achilles tendon at the back. The ankle is sprained which will get better with time, ice and ace bandage.
The fall has also overstretched the Achilles tendon with the possibility of a tear. This needs a good compression bandage from the upper leg down to the toes, ice and off walking for 4 to 5 days.
After this few days check ankle movement for weak action or pain which if present might mean a tear of the tendon. This will need to be checked by your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
