What Causes Right-sided Numbness In Forehead, Eye And Bridge Of Nose?

I had a septoplasty 5 weeks ago and had to have a septal haematoma drained a week later. Gradual recovery since but am now concerned about new numbness right side forehead, right side of bridge of nose and around right eye which only came on 5 days ago. Is this numbness a recognised complication or likely something else? I am 47 years old and have no pain or visual disturbance.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

This is very rare to know about such symptoms being developed 5 weeks after surgery. The commonest cause I can think about is during the healing process the nerve supplying the area you mentioned got entrapped in a fibrosis causing numbness. I would advise you to consult your doctor / ENT surgeon for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations needed.

Do not worry as such symptoms although take a few weeks or months usually get better. If there is any specific finding then surely you will be treated as per the findings.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
