What Causes Right-sided Radiating Pain On Back And Shoulder Pain?

I just got diagnosed with a kidney infection this morning, and was put on apo-sulfatrim. However, I now have pain radiating up the right side of back further, to the point that it hurts to breathe, and my right shoulder is pain as well. Is this shoulder pain normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It seems that you are experiencing the pain on the right side of your back and shoulder due to the kidney infection.
If it's not bearable, you can have some analgesics like ibuprofen/paracetamol along with some antibiotics like cefixime and ornidazole tablets.
Add an alkaliser as well in the required dose.
Another natural measure to reduce kidney infection is to have cranberry juice(Provided you are not a diabetic and your potassium levels are within the normal limit).

So,I would like you to advise some investigations like
Complete blood count,
Sr.electrolytes,
Renal function test,
Urine for R/E,
X-ray KUB and
an USG whole abdomen.
Review these reports with your physician as early as possible.
Take care
