What Causes Right Sided Shoulder Pain Despite Taking Cortisone Shot?

I have had shoulder pain for a few months. At times, the pain shoots down into the muscle and then the forearm. All right side. Went to the Dr and got 2 different cortisone shots. 1st one helped out, 2nd one did not. Is next step an MRI? Also, difficult to sleep. It really bothers me more at night, and I sleep on that right side. Thank you for your help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms can be related to a pinched nerve in the shoulder. A MRI would be very helpful in confirming the diagnosis.

Meanwhile, I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain. If the pain continues, I suggest taking prescription painkillers such as Pregabalin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
