Hello dear,
After going through your history, I believe you have some genuine concern and I will try to help you out of this situation.
Dizziness has got many underlying cause, but acute onset dizzinesss, ringing in the ear and fullness in the ear ( Which you have not mentioned) are the classical triad of Meniere's disease.
Our
inner ear has got
vestibular system ( which are resposible for balancing our body), in which there are two types of fluid separated by a thin membrane like a balloon filled with fluid (
ENDOLYMPH) resting inside another fluid ( PERILYMPH). When the pressure inside the endolymph increased to a certain level, the balloon burst leading to mixing of both fluids and brings an attack.
THE EXACT CAUSE FOR THIS IS NOT ESTABLISHED TILL NOW, but various factors like autoimmune process, some viral infection, stress,
hypothyroidism has been postulated.
This disease usually results in
hearing loss which gets some correction when the burst membrane heals in time. But with the underlying cause not treated, the attack MAY arise in future. But Relax for the time being. We have to exclude the disease first.
In my clinic in patient like you I advice for some audiometric tests to assess the status of hearing. If needed another test called electrocochleography is done.
For the time being you have to follow following advice:
1.Rest for a couple of days
2.Have a salt restricted diet
3. Stop smoking
4.Avoid excess intake of water
5.Avoid excess coffee, tea and alcohol
6.Avoid stress following some good music or other
If symptoms still persisting, you can have
Prochlorperazine pills ( Stemetil 5mg twice daily for 3 days.
I hope I could solve your query. Please do not hesitate to clarify more doubts for the same situation.
Thank you for the way you are in my life.
