Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I heard a ringing sound in my ear last night and my ear felt like it was clogged. Then it started to ache. Went to doctor and found some ear wax and they cleaned it out. Now my ear feels worse. Prescribed Sudafed. Said ear looks fine. No recent exposure to loud noises.
Sudafed is an antihistamine medication prescribed to treat allergies and nasal congestion. After ear wax cleaning it is normal to feel slight discomfort or sensitivity in your ears. Some people become vulnerable to ear infections after their ear irrigation since all of the protective earwax is also removed which could lead to pain and ringing sounds in the ear. If I were your treating physician, I would prescribe an oral antibiotic or ear drops antibiotic to you for example Amoxicillin. I would suggest that you consult an ENT doctor.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ahmad Nazzal, General & Family Physician
