What Causes Rise In AST Levels?

Hello. I just had a Physical with blood work done. My AST levels were 54. My ALT levels were normal at 31. All other liver function tests were normal. I do not take any medications, and only occasionally drink alcohol. I do take a multi vitamin, over the counter potassium, and vitamin D. thats it. I worked out pretty hard the night before, but nothing major. I am a firefighter and this is the first time it has shown a high level. I know iI should be seen by my doctor, but is this level really high or just out of range.

Thanks.

HI
Welcome to HCM

AST level of 54 is very mild elevation . Any simple stress like viral fever can cause that . Also intake of Vitamin D , alcohol also can increase it . So there is nothing to worry about .
