Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Rise In CRP And WBC Level Inspite Of Taking Antibiotics For UTI?
Hi, my 1.5 month son has been diagnosed with urinal tract infection about ten days back. At that time crp levels were 20.64 mg/dl and wbc level around 19k cells/ul. After the urinal tract infection has been cleared (no trace in the urine test) we were prescribed 2 days of antibiotic injection and now crp level is back 16 in the blood and wbc 23.43. How would you think about the cause? Best regards
Hi, i do care for your concern. Your history suggest, of reactivation of infection or other sepsis that might be present along with it. I would advise To do a blood culture and sensitivity done. alter the medication according to the reports. complete the full course of specified antibiotics. This will help to cure the infection completely. Also breast feeding should be continued unless until contraindicated. hope everything goes fine. Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
