What Causes Rise In Alkaline Phosphate Levels After Gallbladder Removal?

6 weeks I had my gallbladder removed, good recovery, but since then I have elevated get and alkaline phospatase levels, no pain, how long should it take for those levels to return to normal after gallbladder ? 6 weeks and still elevated is concerning me, any ideas whats going on ? thank you :-)

Hello,

Though there is no pain, persistent elevation of the Alkaline Phosphatse enzyme indicates issues with biliary ducts most likely. In my clinic, after thorough clinical examination, I do suggest an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis for visualisation of the:
- Gall bladder fossa part
- Liver bed
- Common bile duct
- Intra and extra hepatic biliary ducts
- Any free fluid in abdomen or right paracolic gutter
which will reveal the possible underlying cause in details for sure.
