What Causes Rise In Body Temperature While Taking Thyroid Replacement Treatment?
My name is EILEEN I AM 65 YRS, YOUNG. I Am diabetic and also take thyroid replacement meds. Atpresent my thyroid test is normal. I have noticed when I take my temperature (feeling hot) it has been between 97 and 97.3. I am always 98.6. could I be ill in some way? My email address is ekgchapman @ Verizon. net thank you.
I do not think, that this is an issue, to be concerned more in your case. A reading of 98.6 is also in normal range of body temperature. Still, thyroid replacement results an increase in body temperature. Hence, some times over-replacement with thyroid hormone may result in features of hyperthyroidism including an increase in temperature also.
Once the level of increased thyroid hormone is there, then it may take some time more, for the feeling of increased temperature to go away, even after thyroid hormone has come to normal level. Hence a careful monitoring of thyroid hormone level with periodically proper thyroid replacement dosage is advised.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
