What Causes Rise In Heart Rate While Suffering From Hypothyroidism?

I am Debarati Nandi. I am 22 years female. I have hypothyroidism. Of course treatment is going on for that. 3 months ego I had an ecg. The report was normal, heart rate 91 bpm. Then recently my ecg showed sinus slight right axis deviation and heart rate 83 bpm. I don t know what does that mean but recently whenever I speak loudly or hear some loud speaking, my heart starts beating fast. Some time it feels like my chest is gonna explode. Should I be worried about that?

Hello,

Thank you for your question. Hypothyoidism treatment is with replacement hormone. Medicine to used for your hypothyroidism should be Levothyroxine. It is belong to a class of drug called hormones. The fast heartbeat is possible side effect of that drug.

You may need to see your doctor. I suggest he may need to rule out your symptom from by doing another blood test to check thyroid hormone level and anxiety and other cause.

Your heart beat 83 bpm is not too fast. Hypothyroidism it self can cause heart problem you maybe need to check your heart ultrasound.

Your doctor may consider by doing all the test and reevaluate your symptom.
