What Causes Rise In Platelet Count During Diabetes?

my father is 64 years old and a diabetic since 20 years. he was admitted for infection on his foot . he was cured with antibiotics . after 1 - 2 month we checked his platelets , they were 70 ,000. but he has no fever nor any problem. we had been for a regular sugar and blood test. after 3 days we again checked them . but now they increased to 82 ,000. why did this happen. and also told to doctor he recommends to take wysolone 10mg for 3 days. what do i do about the side effercs

Hi,

The rise in platelet count from 70000 to 82000 is a good sign. This is to getting back the count to normal level (>150000) and is body responce to be in normal range.

Wysolone 10mg for 3 days does not cause much of side effect. Only bother is if taken for long days. THis drug might have been prescribed just as a protective measure for low platelet count.

SO no need to worry aand get checked for platelets again after 3 days.
