What Causes Rise In Sugar Levels In Diabetic Patients?
My dad is 50 years old and he has diabetes and he woke up this morning and took his blood sugar and it was close to 300 which is terrible. He went to the doctors a couple weeks ago for shortness of breath and pressure/pain in his chest and his blood sugar was 375 then after eating 445 so i took him to the ER. They ended up doing a heart cath on him and said that they couldnt really find anything except minor blockage that comes with age. Basically they really didnt know what had caused all of this. Well now he feels similarly and I dont know what to do
Cardiac catheterization has ruled out chest pain which may be due to coronary artery blocks and other heart related conditions. But there are other conditions outside from the heart which may also cause chest pain. In your father's case severe hyperglycemia is one which may be aggravating his chest pain due to automatic over activity. In this situation I would advice my patient to control the blood sugar through medications, diet and mild exercise. I would advice him to consider consulting a pulmonalogist for evaluation of his breathlessness and chest pain.
